WITH GREAT JOY,
THE MDANP IS EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE
THAT
THE SENATE PASSED OUR BILL WITH FLYING COLORS!!!

WE HAVE GREAT CONFIDENCE THAT OUR BILL (HB 402 / SB 314) WILL BE SIGNED INTO LAW BY GOVERNOR MARTIN O'MALLEY MAKING MARYLAND THE 18TH LICENSED STATE FOR NATUROPATHIC DOCTORS IN THE COUNTRY!

This GREAT accomplishment would not have been possible without all of your support. On behalf of the MDANP, we want to extend deep gratitude to all of our patients who made phone calls, to the ND students who one day want to practice in Maryland, and to all of our colleagues in this state who uphold the integrity of our profession through their healing actions each day.

WE ALL SHARE THIS VICTORY!
and now we can truly live in a
"Greater State of Health"

NEWS AND EVENTS

Legislative Update: February 10, 2014

After successful hearings in the Senate Education, Health and Environmental Affairs (EHEA) Committee on January 29th and the House Health and Government Operations (HGO) Committee on February 4th, the MDANP has found common ground regarding outstanding concerns.

Overall, there is a great deal of support around this legislation in both the House and the Senate and the MDANP is working very hard to keep positive momentum going as the bill progresses.

An important sign of progress this session was a supportive testimony from the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DHMH) which supported a scope of practice for NDs including diagnosis and treatment using physical exam and laboratory testing.

As always, our success depends in large part on your involvement. If you've worked with an ND, you've seen the great things that naturopathic doctors can help people achieve. Why not show your appreciation by writing a letter to your legislator? You can either click the link to the left, or click right here to find standardized forms and information about how to find your legislator.

The MDANP also appreciates donations of any size. We are a dedicated group of individuals who have committed much of our own time, energy and resources to promoting naturopathic medicine in Maryland, and your donations are greatly appreciated. Donations can be made by clicking the link below.

MDANP LEGISLATIVE UPDATE

SUMMER STUDY 2013 & BOARD OF PHYSICIANS REPORT

The Maryland Association of Naturopathic Physicians, in cooperation with the Maryland Board of Physicians, was involved in a Summer Study to review the issue of how and under what conditions naturopathic doctors will be licensed in Maryland. This was an excellent opportunity for the profession to offer education and information to other health care organizations, legislators, and other groups who have expressed interest in our bill.

The Board of Physicians published a report in October of 2013, based on the proceedings of the work group. The Board provided a strong argument for licensure of naturopathic doctors in the state of Maryland under and independent Board of Naturopathic Medicine. These findings were embraced by the MDANP, and they provide further momentum for our legislative activity in 2014!

If you have any questions regarding the legislative process of licensing NDs in Maryland, please contact Emily Telfair, ND, MDANP President at: 443-226-7665 / dremilytelfair@gmail.com.

Please support the MDANP licensure efforts by making a donation today!

Thank you for your support!
