Why “Dandelion Naturopathic” PC?

 

Dandelions are medicinal.  The flower is sunny and bright and can make you smile if you let it.  Children and young-at-heart love to blow away the dried puffs of seeds and make a wish…..

The aerial parts (leaves and flowers) are loaded with vitamins and minerals and are suitable for salads and stir fry’s.

 The leaf as medicine is a natural diuretic without wasting minerals. Moreover, the leaves are loaded with minerals!  Dandelion roots are medicine for the liver.  They help nourish the liver and help the liver regenerate.  They help the liver detoxify everything that we are exposed to both outside and inside of our bodies, including the herbicide that seeks to destroy the dandelion.

 

Plants tend to grow in areas where they can be most useful.  For example, the plantain leaf, which treats hives and skin problems, grows near stinging nettles, which causes horrible stinging pain if touched when it is mature.  Look for the plantain leaf growing nearby if you happen to get caught in the clutches of the stinging nettle on your next hike.

 

And it is as if dandelions know we need them! 

No matter how much weed-killer we use, how much boiling water we pour on them, the dandelion persists, smiling up at us each spring.  They dig their long roots in deeply and thrive. 

 

Naturopathic Medicine is a system of medicine that takes into account the whole body and seeks to find the cause rather than only alleviate symptoms.  Its roots are buried deep, like the dandelion, as old as human history.

Naturopathic treatment seeks to stimulate and guide the body to heal itself. 

Everything we need has already been given to us, including our body’s ability to heal itself, including the beloved dandelion. 

 

More and more people are shaking up the healthcare paradigm of “big pharma”; discovering, re-learning that we can heal naturally and prevent illness using gentle, more effective means and methods.

More and more people are learning that we need naturopathic medicine! 

 

So let those dandelions and ‘alternative’ medicine (naturopaths, chiropractors, acupuncture, herbalists, massage therapists, etc.) clinics spring up everywhere!  The more the merrier! We need this medicine! 

 

Dandelions and naturopathic medicine are good for us and good for the planet.

And thankfully, dandelions and naturopathic medicine persevere!
